Sustainability
Sagrada Madre exclusively utilises fallen Palo Santo wood instead of harvesting trees for its product production.
Each time you use a product from Sagrada Madre, you are contributing to environmental preservation and replanting.
More than 600 Palo Santo trees have been planted by Sagrada Madre as part of its ongoing reforestation efforts in Peru throughout the years.
Sagrada Madre works with the Andanjo agricultural community in Piura, Peru, during every rainy season to plant native Palo Santo trees and support the reforestation of this tree, which benefits both our planet and people.
In Cerro La Cruz, Salitral District, they planted 150 seedlings of this sacred tree during their final planting in March.
Foundations
In late 2017, two brothers in Argentina came up with the concept to create unique incenses using the best natural ingredients possible, and so Sagrada Madre was formed. It quickly developed into a business that involved all of the family and friends.
Today, Sagrada Madre employs more than 120 families; of them, 50% are women who are the sole providers in their households. The company was founded in December 2018.
Sagrada Madre has transformed the incense business and is still growing, being spread to more than 50 nations globally each day.
Harmony in Nature
Sagrada Madre sources fruit biomass from food companies to use as a natural binder, effectively repurposing waste material.
The foundation of Sagrada Madre's incense products consists of the leftover dry matter from apples and pears, which is typically discarded by fruit juice factories. Through the upcycling process, the fruit biomass is converted into an organic raw material with a neutral scent by sun-drying. Over 100 tonnes of fruit pulp are repurposed annually as a natural binder for incense sticks and other incense products.
Sagrada Madre is dedicated to promoting a more sustainable future for humanity through its endeavors. As a result, it endeavors to minimize its environmental impact at every stage of the production process.
